Our nurse routinely gives the Pneumonia Vaccine (Pneumovax).
It is available free for anyone over 65 or anyone in an at risk group.

Flu Vaccine
Each year the seasonal (annual) flu vaccine contains common influenza virus strains. The flu virus changes each year this is why a new flu vaccine has to be given each year.
Vaccination is strongly recommended for:
- persons 65 and over,
- those with a long-term medical condition such as diabetes, heart or lung disease,
- people whose immune system is impaired due to disease or treatment,
- healthcare workers,
- residents of nursing homes and other long stay institutions,
- persons with a body mass index (BMI) over 40,
- pregnant women. (can be given at any stage of pregnancy),
- carers
Gardasil HPV Vaccine
2 or 3 shots required depending on age ask your practice nurse or GP.

You can get a vaccine against shingles. It comprises 2 shots given 2 months apart. It is only available privately, so you have to pay to get it. You cannot get it through your medical card or drug payment scheme.
